Fort Knox got a terrific performance from pitcher Sergio Tacuri, but it wasn't enough to beat the Long Island Ducks. Long Island won the Ballpark of Baxter contest, 5-4. Tacuri was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs. Reliever Rubén López picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Marcos Zambrano took the loss. This win makes it 5 in a row for Long Island.
Had Tomás Martí not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Martí hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Ducks.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Long Island manager Luis Díaz.
