Cougars Get Road Win, 7-4
|
The Valley View Cougars beat the Indiana Lead Sox, 7-4, at The Lead Mine. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Matt Méndez, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. With the victory, the Cougars record now stands at 38-34.
The Cougars got a big boost from right fielder Jerry Scott who had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the seventh inning off Lead Sox hurler Foeke Advocaat. It was his 17th RBI of the season and put Valley View on top, 5-4.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Méndez told the Valley View Times.
