Voodoo Subdue Battery, 9-5
|
The New Orleans Voodoo powered past the Charleston Battery, 9-5, at Charleston Armory. Lupo Cotto went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs, to lead the charge. New Orleans reliever Rafael Bernal picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Kyuichi Hori absorbed the loss. The save was credited to Mark Valle, his 3rd.
New Orleans used the clutch hitting of Calvin Wilms to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to give the Voodoo the lead, 4-1. For the game, Wilms had 1 single and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Cotto said.
The loss lowers the Charleston record to 7-8.
