Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Valley View Cougars got the win.

Valley View Cougars starter Chris Plautz was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Ogallala Octopi, 4-3. Plautz got the win, improving to 2-5. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Plautz allowed 3 earned runs. Steve Roberson was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Cougars sent 19-year-old center fielder John Ingham to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Valley View on top, 4-3.

"Enjoyed this one," Ingham told the Valley View Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
