Flanderses Turn Back Long Island, 3-1

It was a fun time at Field of the Toros, where the Long Island Ducks and Hudsonville Flanderses tangled.
The Long Island Ducks got a sterling performance from pitcher Govaart van Ankeren, but the Flanderses still prevailed, 3-1. van Ankeren was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. The Flanderses, now 18-13, have won 5 in a row.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing Long Island hurler Govaart van Ankeren, Christiaan Bunschoten, who is rated as the 18th best prospect by BNN, drew a walk. The Flanderses went on to win.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Bunschoten said.
