|
The Long Island Ducks defeated the Ogallala Octopi, 9-4, at Ducks Park today. Leading the charge for Long Island was right fielder Hisashi Koumura. He went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jim Sousa, who went 7.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 2-1. Long Island is now 14-8. Ogallala is 9-13.
Sergio Morán hit a 2-run double off Ari Heinonen in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Ducks in front, 5-4. In addition to the double, Morán had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Morán.
