Rams Turn Back Long Island, 4-3
|
Ballpark of Wellsville was the site of a competitive game between the Long Island Ducks and Ladue Rams.
The Ladue Rams topped the Long Island Ducks, 4-3, in USPL Rookie action at Ballpark of Wellsville. The player of the game was Ladue pitcher and South Hadley, Massachusetts native Joe Haynes. In 7 innings, Haynes surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Rubén Medina recorded the save for Ladue, his 4th of the season.
Sayed Walid had a big 2-run single for the Rams in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Ladue trailing 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Erwin Shelley and stroked the single to center. It was his 31st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rams ahead, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Walid after the game.
Ladue is off to a hot start at 14-5.
