Ducks Get Close Win Over Shockers
|
The Surprise Shockers and Long Island Ducks met at ďAbbots Ballpark to settle a score.
Hisashi Koumura helped his team muscle past the Surprise Shockers, 8-5. In the game, the Long Island right fielder went 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever John Sawyer picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Lloyd Parrel took the loss.
Koumura had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a 1-0 fastball from Lloyd Parrel, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Ducks a 6-5 lead. It was the 21st hit of the year for Koumura.
"I like our moxie," said Ducks manager Luis Díaz.
The win brings the Ducks to 11-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
