Centennial Take Nail-Biter Over Lead Sox

The Fort Knox Centennial took Indiana pitcher Carlos Poujol's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Baxter. The final score had Fort Knox getting past the Lead Sox, 4-3. Poujol went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 7. Reliever Joe Pollitt picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Hakumele Apelama took the loss. The Lead Sox fall to 7-9 and continue their uneven start to the 2037 season.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Frans van Dalen came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Indiana pitcher Ki-nam Yi, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Knox on top, 4-3.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," van Dalen said in his postgame press conference.
