Cajuns Need Extras to Top Octopi
|
The Crowley Cajuns picked up a win at Nebraska Aquarium, knocking off the Ogallala Octopi, 3-1. Starting pitcher Wan-fu Quan, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Felipe Nieves picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Joe Smith was tagged with the loss. At 9-4, the Cajuns have played well so far.
Crowley relied on the hitting of Reggie Gommers to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the 15th inning to put the Cajuns on top, 3-1. For the game, Gommers had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Gommers.
