Las Vegas rode a decent outing from starter Hikaru Yamaguchi to victory over the Portland Evergreens at The Strip. The final score was 3-2. Yamaguchi, now 1-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. With the win, Las Vegas goes to 6-7.

The Evergreens had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Flamingos going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old shortstop Freedon Akinmoladun came to the plate. Akinmoladun hit a run-scoring single on a 2-1 fastball from Portland hurler Robert Smalls. It was Akinmoladun's 10th hit of the year.

"It's a mindset," said Yamaguchi. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
