Greenville got a terrific game from first baseman Danny Trautmann. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Boston, 6-5. Trautmann was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The Patriots, now 9-4, have been on a roll in the early going.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from catcher Anselmo Berneu. For the game, Berneu was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 2nd double of the season gave Boston a 4-2 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Berneu, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
