The New Orleans Voodoo topped the Charleston Battery by the score of 4-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Colm Goodwill. Goodwill was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Voodoo on the day. David Buchanan got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Mark Valle earned the save for New Orleans, his 2nd of the year.
In the top of the first, Goodwill pounced on a first pitch fastball from Carlos Medina and hit a 3-run home run. It put New Orleans on top, 3-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims.
The Battery fall to 6-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 2037 season.
