The Springfield Shooters had to overcome a big game from Lake Minnetonka shortstop António Amaya to leave Springfield Stadium with a 6-5 victory. Amaya was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Springfield reliever Andy Tidwell, now 2-0. The loser was Dennis Blanchard. Richard Arnie was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 12 save opportunities.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Don Pokorski was at the plate when Springfield scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Shooters to go in front, 6-5.

"Enjoyed this one," Pokorski told the Springfield Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

The Shooters' win now puts them at 45-53.
