Shooters Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus Atlantic City
|
Spirited fans at Sonics Ballpark greeted the Atlantic City Sonics for their clash with the Springfield Shooters.
The Springfield Shooters beat the Atlantic City Sonics, 7-2, at Sonics Ballpark. The Shooters got a fine performance from second baseman Shigeaki Samurakami, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Henry Ross earned the win to go to 5-7. He allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
With Springfield leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Samurakami hit a forkball from Ron Sinnocks for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Shooters ahead, 4-0.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Samurakami told the Springfield Daily.
At 42-49, the Shooters find themselves in 6th place in the Premier AA.
