Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Ricardo Varela, the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 14-9. Varela was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. Had Ryoichi Yoshida not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Yoshida hit a 2-run single. That made the score 11-9, in favor of the Screaming Eagles.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Screaming Eagles manager Richard Weaver. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
