Screaming Eagles Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Thunder Hawks
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles topped the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 8-4, with left fielder Jason Graham playing a big role. Graham was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Screaming Eagles in the win. The win was credited to Wilson Rangel in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Dan Porter took the loss. The Screaming Eagles, at 47-27, lead by one game in their division.
Mercer Island used the clutch hitting of Maxence Sultanbekov to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Screaming Eagles the lead, 6-4. For the game, Sultanbekov had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Sultanbekov.
