Thunder Hawks Bump Off Screaming Eagles, 8-4
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 8-4, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Pat Pending, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Ft. Polk South reliever Ralph Owens was the winner. His record is now 6-3. The losing pitcher was Diego Cartaya. The Thunder Hawks own a robust 46-27 mark.
Carlos Castro, who is tied for 4th in the PAA in runs scored with 50, helped out the Ft. Polk South cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the first baseman drew 2 walks.
In postgame comments to the Ft. Polk South Chronicle, Pending said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
