The Northville Eclipse defeated the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 3-2, in USPL Double A action at Old-Timers Park, with Northville pitcher Devoid Couch named player of the game. James Callendar was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 19 save opportunities. The Eclipse have an impressive 44-27 record.
Had Jon Ellender not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Ellender hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Eclipse.
"This is a very good team," said Couch. "We have the chance to do something special."
