The San Bernardino Grasshoppers picked up a win at Sonics Ballpark, knocking off the Atlantic City Sonics, 4-2. Starting pitcher David Silva, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 6 innings, Silva surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Júlio Antunez finished the game for San Bernardino and earned his 13th save.
Andy Alderliesten had a big 2-run single for the Grasshoppers in the top of the fourth inning. With San Bernardino leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Nick de la Fuente and stroked the single to center. It was his 22nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grasshoppers ahead, 4-1.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Silva.
San Bernardino is 33-37 and Atlantic City, with the loss, 36-34.
