Screaming Eagles Get One-Run Win at Westwood
|
In a low-scoring game between the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and the Westwood Sixshooters, pitcher Diego Cartaya was masterful on the mound. The Mercer Island right-hander was named the player of the game in Mercer Island's 2-1 win. Carlos Cardoso recorded his 2nd save for Mercer Island. The third-place Screaming Eagles are now 22-17, the Sixshooters 14-25.
Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Terry John to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
Cartaya called the triumph "a good team win."
