Thunder Hawks Hang 7-3 Loss on Grasshoppers
|
Ethan Brierley had a good game, but he could not keep the San Bernardino Grasshoppers from falling, 7-3, to the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks at Field of the Grasshoppers. The San Bernardino shortstop was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 in the loss. Daryl Keirl, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Grasshoppers to no earned runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. With the loss, San Bernardino drops to 8-12.
Ft. Polk South used the bat of Carlos Castro to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Castro told a Ft. Polk South Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
