Victory Over Thunder Hawks Takes Mercer Island to 7-3
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles trumped the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 6-2, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Mercer Island catcher Tomislav Jovovich was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Adrik Mihalushkin was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Jovovich contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Mercer Island in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Jovovich took a fastball from Rubén Vázquez and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Screaming Eagles to leap in front, 4-2.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Jovovich said.
The Screaming Eagles, now 7-3, have been on a roll in the early going.
