Springfield rode a good effort from starter Henry Ross to beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles at Mercer Island Grounds. The final score was 4-0. Jian-gun Fei got the save, the 1st for him this season. The loss lowers the Mercer Island record to 2-1.
The game could have flipped with one out in the bottom of the fifth. But Henry Ross made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Mercer Island trailing 3-0, Ross threw a fastball to Terry John and John flied out.
