Martínez Hurls Shutout
It wasn't easy but the Charleston Battery made it look that way.

Starter Miguel Angel Martínez shut out the Portland Evergreens despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Charleston Battery cruised to victory, 4-0. Martínez allowed only 5 hits and rang up 5 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

Martínez has made 17 starts this season, posting 7 wins and 4 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .268 against him and he has 79 strikeouts in 101.2 innings with a 4.25 ERA.
