Big Day at the Plate for Briggs Not Enough for 84s
Wally Briggs did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Greenville 84s from losing, 10-8, to the Charleston Battery at 84s Field. Briggs hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The win takes Charleston to 5-4.

The result might have been different for Charleston, had it not been for Datu Lesaca, the 25-year old second baseman . Lesaca stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Charleston up, 3-1. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Lesaca.
