Chicago had no answer for New Orleans Voodoo hurler De John Cleland, who overwhelmed Silver Sox hitters as the Voodoo coasted to a 6-1 victory. The winning pitcher was Cleland, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Ted Chong nailed down his 3rd save.
It could have been a different outcome for New Orleans, had it not been for Eikki Kankaanperä, the 28-year old center fielder . Kankaanperä contributed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put New Orleans up, 2-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Kankaanperä. "And not try to do too much."
Their 30-52 record puts the Voodoo last in the Premier League.
