Evergreens Trip Patriots in Extras

The Portland Evergreens scored a 2-1 win versus the Boston Patriots at Dunkin Donuts Park. Portland pitcher Marcos Tejedor nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Portland reliever Mark Zaugg picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Manuel Sánchez shouldered the loss. Keith Rojas converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
Portland used the timely hitting of Blaze Alexander to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Evergreens on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Evergreens manager Brandon Slouck, "I like our chances."
The Evergreens, at 45-28, have now won 4 straight.
