In a low-scoring clash between Philadelphia 1776 and Vancouver, pitcher Yoo-chul Mun was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Philadelphia 1776 in the 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Mun, now 2-0. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Kenji Aoki earned the save for Philadelphia 1776, his 3rd of the year.
Mario Castillo had a big run-scoring triple for the BC in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Philadelphia 1776 leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a cutter from Kenny Aarnoutse and stroked the triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the BC ahead, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Philadelphia 1776 manager Josh Swain said.
With the loss, Vancouver drops to 4-3.
