Evergreens Deal Voodoo 6-3 Setback
The Portland Evergreens started the 2037 season win an impressive 6-3 win against the New Orleans Voodoo at Evergreen Park. Giovanni Mireles, who won the Gold Ball in 2031, was named player of the game. Mireles, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. The save was credited to Raúl Romero, his 1st.

Portland right fielder Willie McGirt contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Evergreens ahead, 5-3.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Portland manager Brandon Slouck.
