Patriots Score Late, Upend Evergreens, 2-1
|
The Boston Patriots topped the Portland Evergreens, 2-1, in United States Premier League action at Dunkin Donuts Park. The player of the game was Boston pitcher and Blackfoot, Idaho native Firpo Marberry. Bradley Roth picked up the save, his 3rd. After today's action, Boston sits at 30-22, while Portland falls to 31-21.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when shortstop Roland Deschain, who leads the PL in stolen bases with 21, hit a double. The Patriots went on to win.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Boston manager Tyler Carter.
