Great Effort by Dotson Wasted in 10-5 Evergreens Loss
|
The Portland Evergreens got a superb performance from third baseman Billy Dotson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Philadelphia 1776. The BC won the game, 10-5. In spite of the loss, Dotson was named the player of the game. He was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Yoo-chul Mun picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 5-1. The BC are now 17-24, while the Evergreens fall to 25-16.
Eddie Sachs dealt the Evergreens a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Philadelphia 1776 leading 3-2, Sachs, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in hits with 53, hit a 3-1 cutter for a run-scoring single.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Sachs told the Philadelphia 1776 Daily. "It's as simple as that."
