Flamingos Come Back Late to Clip Evergreens
Portland got a terrific performance from pitcher Robert Smalls, but it wasn't enough to beat the Las Vegas Flamingos. Las Vegas won the Evergreen Park contest, 6-5. Smalls was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Vaugh Chesser finished the game for Las Vegas and earned his 8th save. Las Vegas, at 11-19, sits in last place in the Premier League.

Freedon Akinmoladun's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a splitter from Raúl Romero for a run-scoring single. It put Las Vegas in front, 6-5.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Akinmoladun told a Las Vegas Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
