Coeur Slip Past Philadelphia 1776, 7-6
St. Louis withstood an impressive performance by Philadelphia 1776 designated hitter Karl Blanke to defeat the BC, 7-6, at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum. Blanke was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. St. Louis reliever Szekeres Panna picked up the win to move to 1-1. José Cotilla suffered the loss. The Coeur' win now puts them at 11-14.

St. Louis used the clutch hitting of Jack Bonner to capture the win. The catcher drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to give the Coeur the lead, 7-6. For the game, Bonner had 1 single and 3 doubles in 6 at-bats.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Bonner, "but we got it done."
