Silver Sox Win Streak Now at 6

The Las Vegas Flamingos got a superb performance from first baseman Baldomero Avino, but the Chicago Silver Sox still won the game, 5-3. Avino was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Joe Pruitt picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 2-0. The Flamingos fall to 8-13 and continue to sputter in the early going.
In the top of the first, Jonathan Gunner ambushed a 2-2 slider from Kagetoki Matsubara and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Chicago a quick 2-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Gunner.
