Despite a great performance by Quebec City starter Miguel López, the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC defeated the Les Bleus by the score of 4-3 at Quebec City Coliseum today. López threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Northern Lions BC from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Thunder Bay now leads the Silver League Championship - .
Luis Freitas, who is rated as the 38th best prospect by BNN, aided the Thunder Bay cause with a 2-run single in the top of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Freitas told reporters after the game.
