Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Wednesday, August 16th, 2034
The action was hot and heavy at a recent New Orleans-New Amsterdam game at The Voodoo Lounge in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Voodoo Melito Báez and New Amsterdam's Orynn Veillon will each miss 3 games for their roles in the fight.

"We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe."

Báez is hitting .291 so far this season with 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has 32 hits including 4 home runs, 9 walks and .355 OBP.

To date this year Veillon has won 2 and lost 1 with a 4.09 ERA, 1 save and 27 strikeouts in 22 relief appearances.
