Macíel Cracks 5 Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Richardson City Thundercats left fielder Juan Macíel, but a tough one for the team, as the Thundercats dropped the contest 7-6 to the New Amsterdam Dutchmen.
Even with the loss, Macíel was pure misery for the New Amsterdam pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-6 in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Macíel, who is the 2031 Newcomer of the Year Award winner .
"Macíel really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Dutchmen manager Bill Cheese told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Juan Macíel singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off John Kraan in the 11th.
Macíel is batting at a .297 pace this season, picking up 84 hits in 283 at-bats with 6 home runs, 38 RBIs and 40 runs scored.
