Dutchmen Prevail, 6-4, Over Richardson City
|
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen had to overcome a big game from Richardson City designated hitter Kazuyoshi Hasegawa to leave Dutch Master Park with a 6-4 victory. Hasegawa was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Nelle Liefting was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 10 save opportunities. The Dutchmen go to 35-42, putting them 8th in the Silver League.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Orynn Veillon didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Richardson City trailing 6-4, Veillon retired Jorge Flores to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Veillon, with a wink.
