Almost There: Phoenix On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 6-3 Win
|
Phoenix Hotspur manager Michael Esposito wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.
In front of a supportive hometown crowd today, 23-year-old center fielder Martín Talia humbled the visiting Kingston Township Knights at Chase Field. Talia went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice as the Hotspur shut out the Knights by a final score of 6-3, to force a - tie in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
Talia had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit a grand slam. The Hotspur went on to win.
Talia called the triumph "a good team win."
