Aviators Hammered by Downing, Fall Further Behind in R1
|
Ft. Worth Cattlemen designated hitter John Downing was the difference-maker at Boeing Dome today, winning player of the game honors as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game of the Third League Championship. The Cattlemen took the 8-5 win over the Seattle Aviators to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.
Ferndale, Maryland-born Armando Chamú came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded and the Cattlemen trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Ft. Worth on top.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson.
