Hotspur Edge Dutchmen, 2-1
|
Phoenix turned a good effort from starter Masahiro Sakei into a win over the New Amsterdam Dutchmen at Chase Field. The final score was 2-1. Roger Taylor finished the game for Phoenix and earned his 5th save. Losses have been few and far between for the Dutchmen, who are now 7-3.
With the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, shortstop Lopahin Davletyarov delivered big for the Hotspur. Phoenix was leading 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Sakei. "Successful pitchers do it."
