Rainbow Mermaids Lose to BC, 5-3
|
Fans who gathered at Atlantica saw a good contest between the Philadelphia 1776 BC and Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids.
The Philadelphia 1776 BC topped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Eddie Sachs. Sachs went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times for the BC. Philadelphia 1776 starter Jay Mahabir was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 8-8. Tony Solíz got the save, his 26th in 34 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Philadelphia 1776, had it not been for José Rodríguez, the 29-year old center fielder . Rodríguez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Philadelphia 1776 up, 5-2.
"It feels good to get this one," Sachs told the Philadelphia 1776 Times.
The 'W' lifts Philadelphia 1776's record to 54-50.
