Continentals Blast Loons
|
The Chesapeake Continentals stopped the Minnesota Loons, 12-1, at Chesapeake Grounds. The Continentals got a big game from Santiago Valentín, who went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Tsu-wee Qi got the win, improving to 2-1. He held the Loons to no earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 0 and walking 2. The Loons fall to 5-8 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Early in the game, catcher Nick Bechtel had a bases-clearing double for Chesapeake. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Continentals on top, 4-1.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Valentín. "And not try to do too much."
