The Philadelphia 1776 BC got a superb performance from pitcher Elroy Thompkins. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Las Vegas. The Flamingos won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Thompkins was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. After today's action, Las Vegas sits at 43-32, while Philadelphia 1776 falls to 36-39.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Las Vegas center fielder Ruud van Ineveld, facing Masami Kogawa, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Flamingos the 5-4 win.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Philadelphia 1776 manager Josh Swain said following the tough loss.
