The New Amsterdam Dutchmen defeated the Richardson City Thundercats, 3-2, in United States Silver League action at The Thunder Dome, with New Amsterdam pitcher WyDale Curry named player of the game. Orynn Veillon, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities. The 9th-place Thundercats have lost 5 straight games.
Had Ángel Ríos not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ríos hit a 2-run double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Dutchmen.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Curry. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
