3 Bombs for Mario Castillo

It was a special day for Mario Castillo, but less so for the Portland Evergreens.
Castillo slammed three home runs against the Boston Patriots, but the Patriots outhit him and got the win by a score of 11-10.
"Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."
The Portland catcher finished the day at Evergreen Park with 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.
Mario Castillo flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Edison Larson in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off José Sánchez in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Glenn Butler in the 9th.
In 49 games Castillo is hitting .291 this season with 51 hits, 13 home runs, 32 RBIs, 28 walks, .399 OBP and has scored 30 runs.
