Great Day for Rivera in Dutchmen Win
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen defeated the Richardson City Thundercats, 5-3. Earning player of the game honors was shortstop Mario Rivera, who was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. New Amsterdam starter Lorenzo Sánchez was credited with the win after throwing 84 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. It could have been a different outcome for New Amsterdam, had it not been for Takayuki Yoshikawa, the 25-year old center fielder . Yoshikawa contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put New Amsterdam up, 3-1.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Dutchmen manager Bill Cheese. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
