Thundercats Stumble, Lose to Piranhas
|
The Panama City Piranhas topped the Richardson City Thundercats by the score of 8-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Tommy Jones. Jones went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 3 runs for the Piranhas on the day. Panama City reliever Edgardo Nava picked up the win to move to 4-1. Gustavo Tobías suffered the loss. Folkert van Huizen earned the save for Panama City, his 17th of the year.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when first baseman Sergio Ortíz, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, reached on an error by the SS. The Piranhas went on to win.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Richardson City manager Imran Kopitar. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The Piranhas have now won 4 straight.
