Portland Wins Game in Extras; On Verge of R2035
|
The Portland Evergreens went into extra innings against the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2035 today. The Evergreens downed the Rainbow Mermaids at Atlantica by a score of 3-2. Portland right-hander César Albó was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2034.
Adrián Gómez, who is rated as the 62nd best prospect by BNN, aided the Portland cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1 for 1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Gómez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The next game is scheduled for Sunday. Slated to start are Ricardo García for Northern Virginia and Yoo-chul Mun for Portland.
